The magnetic deep red gemstone is the birthstone of July babies. Ruby is formed from a variety of corundum, a colored gemstone in pink form to deep red, a mineral obtained from chromium elements. Rubies are bright and red with high values and quality in the market. It is argued that ruby originated from India some two thousand years ago, comprising precious gemstones ever found globally.

One of the most eminent location for the source of magical deep red ruby is the Mogok Valley, Burma known for its pigeon blood rubies. The term was originated from Burma as ko-twe, describing the color of the first two drops of blood from a killed pigeon. These days, rubies are also mined on many parts of the earth including Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Cambodia, Madagascar, Kenya, Mozambique, Afghanistan and Nepal in bright, sparkling conditions.

In my experience in handling gemstones, I have had an opportunity to handle rubies from Mozambique that is also in pigeon blood color, the deep red with undertone of blue, a well sought color in rubies. It is truly magnificient and words are not enough to describe its beauty and richness in color. A person must touch and see it by themselves to feel the magic it carries.
