Traditional Chicken Curry

Our traditional chicken curry 😁 for today's meal.

I believe every household in Malaysia have their own traditional recipe for this particular dishes.

And this is mine, the one that i grew up with. Goooo southeners, woohooo! 🎉


Ingredients:

1. 1 whole chicken - cut into 16 pcs

2. 2 pack Curry powder - Adabi

3. 5 onions - diced

4. 2 crushed garlic

5. 10cm ginger root

6. 3 lemongrass - crush

7. 1 liter coconut milk

8. 2 potatoes - diced 4 each

9. 3 tomatoes - diced 4 each

10. 2 table spoon chili powder

11. 5 cm turmeric root

12. Four (4) Siblings - Cardamon, Cinnamon, Star Anise, Cloves.

13. Half teaspoon salt

Preparation 1 (fine grind):

1. Onions + garlic + ginger + turmeric

(Add half cup of water and fine grind)

Preparation 2 (stir fry):

1. Grease wok with oil and heat up

2. Put in - Fine grind items + 2 pack curry powder + chili powder + lemon grass + Four Siblings

3. Stir fry for 20 minutes

Preparation 3 (cook)

1. Add on 16 pcs chicken (cook for 10 minutes)

2. Add on 1 liter of coconut milk + 500ml water (15 minutes)

3. Add on tomatoes & potatoes (20 minutes)

4. Stir constantly, don't let it evaporate

5. Half teaspoon salt

*reheat the curry according to prefered thickness of the gravy.

*the chicken should cook well 🙂

Chicken curry is served warm with rice or bread.
